Zamzam Well History: Can you see the water?

The Miracle

Since the time of Hajar (AS) and Ismail (AS), this well has pumped water in the barren desert.

Can you see it?

• In the past: Yes, there was a staircase to the basement.
• Now (2025): The entrance is sealed (near the Kaaba) to allow more space for Tawaf. You cannot see the physical well anymore.
• The Tap: The water you drink comes from coolers, but it is pumped directly from the well underneath.

Science

• The water level is only about 10 feet deep, yet it supplies millions of liters daily. It replenishes itself in 11 minutes.
