Before you enter Ihram, you MUST know which Type of Hajj you are doing.

1. Hajj al-Tamattu (The Most Common)

  • For: Pilgrims from outside Saudi Arabia.
  • Process:
    1. Enter Ihram for Umrah first (during Hajj months).
    2. Complete Umrah and Exit Ihram (cut hair). Relax in Makkah.
    3. Enter Ihram again for Hajj on 8th Dhul Hijjah.
  • Sacrifice: Required (Hady).

2. Hajj al-Qiran (The Prophet's Way)

  • For: Those bringing their sacrifice animal with them (rare now).
  • Process: Enter Ihram for Umrah AND Hajj together. You DO NOT exit Ihram after Umrah. You stay in Ihram until Hajj ends.
  • Sacrifice: Required.

3. Hajj al-Ifrad (Hajj Only)

  • For: Residents of Makkah or those arriving very late.
  • Process: Ihram for Hajj Only. No Umrah.
  • Sacrifice: NOT required.
