Menstruation & Umrah: A Sister's Guide

This is the #1 worry for sisters. Here is the simplified Fiqh.

The Golden Rule

A woman on her period can do EVERYTHING in Hajj/Umrah EXCEPT: Tawaf and Prayer (Salah).

Scenarios

1. Period starts BEFORE Ihram (at Meeqat):

   • Action: Shower, Enter Ihram, Make Niyyah. Go to Makkah.
   • Wait: Stay in your hotel. Do NOT go to the Masjid (Haram).
   • Clean: When period ends, Ghusl -> Go do Tawaf & Sa'i -> Cut hair.

2. Period starts AFTER Tawaf but BEFORE Sa'i:

   • Action: You CAN do Sa'i! (Tahara is not a requirement for Sa'i, only for Tawaf). Complete Sa'i, cut hair, finish.

3. Delay Pills (Primolut N):

   • Most scholars allow taking pills to delay the cycle for Umrah. Start taking them 3-5 days before travel. Consult a doctor.
