The Hike Details

  • Elevation: ~640 meters.
  • Path: Paved stone steps (mostly). Steep and uneven.
  • Duration:
    • Fit Person: 40-50 Minutes.
    • Average: 60-90 Minutes.
    • Elderly: Not recommended.

Best Time to Climb

1. Post-Midnight / Pre-Fajr (Best):

  • Coolest temperature.
  • You can pray Fajr at the top.
  • Sunrise view is spectacular.

2. Late Afternoon:

  • Watch the sunset.
  • Descent requires a flashlight (or phone).

Is it Dangerous?

  • Physical Safety: Moderate. The steps can be slippery (worn smooth). Rails exist in some parts.
  • Crowds: The cave itself is tiny (fits 2 people). Getting inside can be chaotic due to pushing. Be patient.
  • Monkeys: Yes, there are baboons. Do not feed them or show food.

What to Bring?

  1. Water: 1-2 Liters per person.
  2. Grip Shoes: Sneakers/Trainers. No sandals.
  3. Cash: Small stalls on the way sell water/tea (expensive).
