Al Hada Road Status: Fog Alerts
The Al Hada mountain road frequently closes during heavy rain or dense fog for safety. When closed, the alternative route (As-Sayl) adds 45 minutes to the trip. Our drivers monitor traffic police updates in real-time to choose the open route.
Is the drive from Makkah just about the destination?
No. The drive up the Al Hada escarpment is an experience in itself, often called the 'Road above the Clouds'. However, it comes with specific considerations.
Is the road curvy?
Extremely. The road has dual carriageways but winds sharply up the cliff face. We recommend sitting in the front seat if you are prone to car sickness.
Is it really cooler?
Yes. Expect a 10-15°C drop in temperature compared to Makkah. You might need a light jacket even in summer.
Can we stop for fruit?
Absolutely. The road is lined with stalls selling seasonal Taif fruits (Pomegranates, Grapes, Figs, Prickly Pear). Just ask your driver.
Taif: The Fragrant Summit
Taif usually serves two distinct purposes for our clients: a summer escape from the heat, or a transit point for pilgrims.
Al Hada
The first mountain resort area you reach from Makkah. Famous for the Cable Car (Teleferic) and water park.
Al Shafa
Higher elevation than Al Hada, more rural, and home to the best rose farms. The road is steeper here.

Why You Need a Pro Driver for Taif
The road from Makkah to Taif is an engineering marvel, but it is steep. Driving it in a rented small sedan can be stressful due to overheating engines and brake fade on the descent.
Our fleet consists of powerful V6/V8 SUVs (GMC Yukon, Chevy Tahoe) that handle the incline effortlessly. Plus, our drivers know exactly where the monkeys gathering spots are for photos (and how to keep your windows safe!).

Traveling in Taif: Seasonal Taxi Tips
Understanding the local climate for a comfortable pilgrimage experience.
Summer (June - August)
Temperatures can exceed 40°C (104°F). It is critical to book air-conditioned taxis pre-arrival. Walking between hotels and the Haram during noon is difficult. Our fleet guarantees high-performance AC systems (tested for Taif's heat) to ensure your family remains cool from pickup to drop-off.
Winter (December - February)
Pleasant weather (18°C - 30°C / 64°F - 86°F). This is popularly known as the "Umrah Season". Traffic congestion increases significantly. While walking is easier, finding a taxi on the street becomes harder due to high demand. Pre-booking ensures you skip the long street-side waits after prayers.

Travel Reality Check: What to Expect
Expert consensus on travel times and costs based on real pilgrim data
Cable Car Start Point
"It starts from the bottom."
Most tourists take the Cable Car from the TOP (Al Hada Ring Road) down to the water park resort, and then back up. Finding a taxi at the bottom station is difficult.
Visiting Rose Farms
"Open all year."
The factories are open, but the ROSES are only blooming and being harvested in cool mornings of March & April. Other times, it's just green bushes.
