1. The Mahram Rule (2025 Update)
Saudi Arabia has officially removed the Mahram requirement for women on Tourist and Umrah visas.
- Ruling: Women of any age can now travel and perform Umrah alone or in a group, provided they feel safe.
2. Dress Code
- Ihram: Regular modest clothing (Abaya/Hijab). No face covering that touches the skin (Niqab should be lifted or propped, though opinions vary).
- Footwear: Socks/Shoes are allowed (unlike men).
3. Menstruation (Hayd)
- The Rule: A woman on her period cannot pray or perform Tawaf. She CAN perform Sa'i, enter the Haram library/corridors (not the main prayer hall), and do Ziyarat.
- Scenario A (Before Ihram): Bathe, wear pads, make Niyyah. Do everything except Tawaf. Wait until clean, then do Tawaf.
- Scenario B (Tablet): Many women take pills (Norethisterone) to delay their cycle during the trip. Consult a doctor before travel.
