Masjid Al-Jinn (Mosque of the Genies) is one of the oldest and most mysterious mosques in Makkah.
The Story
It marks the spot where a group of Jinn gathered one night to listen to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) reciting the Quran. They were so moved that they embraced Islam on the spot.
- Quranic Reference: Surah Al-Jinn (72:1-2): "Say, It has been revealed to me that a group of the jinn listened and said, 'Indeed, we have heard an amazing Qur'an.'"
Visiting
- Location: Near Jannat al-Mualla cemetery (approx 10-15 min walk from Marwa).
- Status: It is a functioning mosque. You can pray 2 Rakaat there.
- Architecture: It is small, modern (renovated), and simple. Don't expect grand architecture; the value is spiritual.
