Masjid Al-Ghamama stands proudly just 500 meters southwest of Masjid Al-Nabawi (Gate 6 area).

The Miracle

  • The Name: "Ghamama" means Cloud.
  • The Event: The Prophet (PBUH) performed Salat al-Istisqa (Prayer for Rain) here during a drought. Before he even lowered his hands, clouds gathered and rain began to fall.
  • Eid Prayer: This open area was also the musalla (prayer ground) where the Prophet (PBUH) performed Eid prayers during his final years.

Architecture

It is a beautiful, historic Ottoman-style mosque with multiple domes. It is often closed for daily prayers but opens for Ziyarat or occasional prayers. It creates a stunning photo backdrop with the Green Dome in the distance.
