Getting sick during Umrah is common (the "Umrah Flu"). Here is where to get help.
1. Ajyad Emergency Hospital
Located right next to the Haram (near King Abdulaziz Gate/Clock Tower).
- Services: Emergency care (heatstroke, heart issues, injuries).
- Cost: Emergency treatment is often free for pilgrims (even with just a visa), but policies can vary. Always have travel insurance.
- Crowd: Very busy. Only go for genuine emergencies.
2. Private Polyclinics
Inside the Clock Tower and Jabal Omar hotels (e.g., Hilton), there are private clinics.
- Cost: High consultation fees (150-300 SAR), but faster service.
3. Pharmacies (Nahdi / Al-Dawaa)
Doctors in Saudi pharmacies are very knowledgeable. They can prescribe antibiotics (sometimes) and general meds for cough/flu over the counter.
- Tip: If you have a chronic condition (diabetes, BP), bring enough meds from home. Finding exact brand matches can be hard.
