Landing at King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) is the first step. Getting to Makkah (approx. 85-100km) requires a choice.

1. Haramain High-Speed Train

  • Best For: Solo travelers or couples with light luggage.
  • Cost: ~35 SAR (Economy).
  • Time: 35 Minutes (Station to Station).
  • Drawback: The train stops at Rusaifah Station (outside Makkah city center). You need a taxi/bus from there to your hotel (~20-40 SAR extra).
  • Luggage: Strict limits apply.

2. Private Taxi / Uber / Careem

  • Best For: Families, elderly, and those with heavy luggage. Door-to-door service.
  • Cost:
    • Uber/Careem: 200 - 300 SAR (Fluctuates with demand).
    • Official Airport Taxi (Green): Metered, usually expensive (~250-300 SAR).
    • Private Booking: Fixed price (~200-250 SAR).
  • Time: 90 Minutes direct to hotel.

3. SAPTCO Airport Bus

  • Best For: Budget travelers.
  • Cost: ~20-25 SAR.
  • Time: 2 Hours (Slower).
  • Drop-off: Jarwal Station (near Harrier) for Makkah.

Verdict

  • Comfort: Private Taxi.
  • Speed: Train.
  • Budget: Bus.
