While Saudi Arabia produces high-quality desalinated water, the tank and piping systems in buildings vary in cleanliness.
- Recommendation: Do NOT drink tap water in hotels. Use it for washing/showering only.
What to Drink?
- Zamzam: In the Haram, drink unlimited Zamzam. It is physically analyzed daily and is 100% safe.
- Bottled Water: Extremely cheap (1 SAR for 600ml).
- Brands: Nova, Berain, Hana, Aquafina.
- Sodium: Check the label if you are on a low-sodium diet (Nova is usually low sodium).
Brushing Teeth?
- It is generally safe to brush teeth with tap water. However, if you have a very sensitive stomach, use bottled water.
