Badr lies approx 150km southwest of Madinah (1.5 - 2 hours drive). It is the site of the most decisive battle in Islam (17 Ramadan, 2 AH).
What to See?
- The Cemetery of Martyrs (Shuhada Badr): Contains the 14 companions who died here. Names are listed on the wall.
- Site of the Arish: The hill where the Prophet's (PBUH) command tent stood. Now a mosque occupies the site.
- Al-Udwatad Dunya: The slope where the Muslim army camped.
- Jabal Malaikah: The mountain of the Angels.
Getting There
- Car/Taxi: It is the only way. A round trip taxi costs approx 300-400 SAR.
- Timing: Best to go early morning. The area is quiet and undeveloped, keeping its raw historical feel.
